This series starts in Spain and Portugal. Historic and diverse these two countries offer considerable value when shopping for wine. Learn about Rioja, and it’s influence. Discover the secrets of Portugal and the treasures that require translation. Once you open the door – look out! Then it’s on to Italy “the boot” also celebrated for its incredibly diverse offering of wine! Did you know they have over a thousand grape varieties growing in microclimates and ancient soils on a landmass that existed for thousands of years? What’s not to love about Tuscany, famous for Chianti and the Sangiovese grape? Maybe your preference is Amarone or Barolo? Perhaps you are intrigued by the volcanic wines of Sicily or rich delicious big reds from Puglia.
Whatever your preference, this series of seven sessions will take you on an unforgettable journey of Italy, Spain and Portugal exploring unique grape varieties and wines of tremendous value. Some consider this series to represent the best wine value in the world. This is a fast-paced exciting series that will turn your wine curiosity into a wine passion!
Each Good Wine Gal online wine class is 1.5 hours long and comprised of a dynamic slide presentation followed by a live tasting component with Vancouver’s top wine educator Mark Shipway and yours truly, Barb Wild.
To attend these sessions you will need a Wi-Fi connection, the Zoom app, a Zoom link (which we send you) and a bottle of wine (from a recommended list). The series takes place in the comfort of your home.
