Introducing Good Wine Gal's YouTube ChannelSometimes you just have to stretch yourself. Can I do it? I'm stepping into the world of video (long & short) on YouTube. Inspirational wine people who have gone before me like Gary Vee, Konstantin Baum and Dr Matthew Horkey. They make it look easy. Now, I'm grabbing my confidence, like a saber and looping the cap on creativity off! Good Wine Gal videos and podcast are on YouTube. Cheers to raising the profile of BC's good wine guys and gals. Here is my first interview with Benoit Gauthier, Director of Viticulture and Winemaking at Noble Ridge Winery, Okanagan Falls, BC. He's terrific. Journey Into The World of Wine QueryWhat does it take to become a winemaker? Where do you train? Where do you apprentice? What inspires people to take a leap of faith in the direction of farming grapes and making wine? Are there ideal pathways for those interested turning the corner away from corporate life and towards a more pastoral, tactile adventure in farming the vineyard and making wine in the cellar. Here is the start of the Good Wine Gal YouTube project. Thank you Benoit for being the first to explore the questions I have. Thanks to all the winemakers, women in wine and viticulturists farming the vine rows in times of climate crisis and modern day mayhem. Benoit Gauthier, Director of Viticulture & WinemakingBenoit Gauthier has been at Noble Ridge Vineyard & Winery in Okanagan Falls, BC since 2012. I first met Benoit in the 2015, when I was part of the cohort of WSET Diploma. In this conversation, Benoit shares his path to becoming a viticulturalist and winemaker. Born and raised in Quebec about 10 hours north of Toronto as the crow flies, this science guy fell in love with wine after a trip to Napa and Sonoma. He's established himself in the valley and has built his reputation on almost 15 years of training, farming and making. He understands the terroir, the vineyard and how to turn this resource into wine in this small wine town of Okanagan Falls. But don't take my word for it. If you love wine and live podcasts, then click the link and hear the whole story. If you don't have that much time, check out the "shorts" on YouTube on the Good Wine Gal channel. They last 15 seconds and you get some of the sound bites from Benoit. Do I have what it takes to master video? This recording is unedited. I like authenticity. I hope you find something valuable in the conversation and that you buy a bottle of wine in support of Noble Ridge and the work Benoit is doing.
